"Operation Exposure" Comes to Philly
The "Operation Exposure" collection, a collaboration between the Justseeds Artists’ Cooperative and veterans and supporters from IVAW, is a direct response to the suicide epidemic and violation of GI’s right to heal within the GI and veteran community. During Veteran's Day, veterans, artists, and supporters met in Rogers Park in Chicago and split into teams. They divided up posters that Justseeds had designed for IVAW and then wheatpastes the city. Teams hit advertising spaces and boarded up buildings with messages of GI resistance and "Operation Recovery".
Aaron Hughes brought several of the pieces to Philly for a public viewing. Community members were able to mingle and chat with Operation Recovery organizers and Eric Ruin one of the Just Seeds artist. We shared information about the OpRec campaign and how people can support. Afterward, IVAW members who were in town for a meeting shared their poetry and works from Warrior Writers. It was a great event. It would be awesome if the prints could travel to other chapters!!
