Join us on Feb 9, 2017 between 7-9 pm at the First Baptist Church, 633 Centre St, on the real effects of militarism on our local communities, our society and abroad. IVAW Co-Directors will share some of our experience mobilizing to Standing Rock, meeting with organizers in Flint, and scaling up our community defense work to prepare for hate groups emboldened by a Trump presidency. We want to connect with organizations and bring in speakers who are working on issues at the intersections of militarism, such as how militarism is expanding in our communities in areas like policing and schools, or folks working on environmental issues with an analysis of how militarism props up extraction in places overseas as well as places like Standing Rock. If you or your organization are working on the intersections of militarism consider sponsoring this event and sending a speaker. contact Maggie Martin via email at maggiemartin@ivaw.org or cell:912-596-8484. The Drop the MIC (military industrial complex) is a national campaign of IVAW and gives veterans and service members trained by our military an opportunity to share and transform their experience into a force for change.
