Shawna Foster

Shawna Foster is a veteran of the US National Guard where she served as a Nuclear Biological Chemical Weapons Specialist. She now organizes with Iraq Veterans Against The War. She made her decision to desert after she realized that there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and the US Army reassigned her MOS to truck driver. She could not believe that the war was purposefully started on false pretenses and that the American public chose to ignore it. She also saw her friends get their combat pay slashed while no-bid military contracts were awarded to Blackwater for the same job. She is currently the IVAW Board Chair, term 2014-2015.

I returned my Iraq campaign medal because they had nothing to do with Al Qaeda in the first place, and I return...
Veterans Who Oppose War Are Your Army
I had zero disciplinary issues. I was the Distinguished Honor Graduate of B Co. 787 MP Battalion at Fort Leonard Wood, and some of the MP buddies I deployed with to Firebase Waza Khwa and FOB Salerno were among the Chicago police, with whom we strove to communicate with to ensure that our role in the protest was peaceful and conciliatory.  ...
