Regino (Ray) Hernandez

I was resently introduced to a relatively new concept in the mental health community. It's know as , "Moral Injury" and is not yet recognized by the Department of Defense. (http://projects.huffingtonpost.com/moral-injury; - author David Wood) This series of articles resonated with me in my own particular circumstances and more so with some other War Veterans I've talked with. The concept deserves an elevated audience (politicians, Civic Leaders, etc.) and is worth future discussion. Military Biography: I am currently assigned to the 142nd Maintenance Squadron, Oregon Air National Guard. I am a Repair and Reclamation Mechanic on the F-15 C/D Eagle. My military career began with the USMC as a Plane Captain on the AV-8B/ TAV-8B Harrier. I have also served with the 150th Civial Engineering Squadron, New Mexico ANG, as a Utility Systems Journeyman. Other tours have allowed me to work as an Integrated Avionics Systems Mechanic on the F-15 A/B Eagle. Assignments as a First Sergeant have included tours with the 142nd Medical Group, 142nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, and a deployment to JBB, Iraq with the 332nd Expeditionary Communications Squadron.
