Heath Martin

I served in Iraq from 09-10. I served in the Wasit Province of Iraq and was so brain washed into thinking what i was doing was courageous and that it "needed" to be done. that is what i told people who thanked me for my service, was that "i did what needed to be done." It wasnt until i got out and started watching videos of IVAW that i realized that the people who i was fighting were not the terrorists, I was the terrorist. I can only imagine what would happen if America became occupied by a foreign power. I would grab my rifle and head out into the street to repel the invaders. Yes i agree that Sadam Husein was an evil man and needed to be stopped. But why are we there 10 years after his death? I was against the troop draw down when i was in the military thinking that the job wasnt done, but after i got out if dawned on me that yes, we accomplished our objective. An evil dictator was ousted and hung by his people, but why was i pulling security for chinese oil companies when i was in iraq? Why was i kicking in peoples doors at 0000 and dragging them out of there beds because we were told they had weapons caches? If a foreign power incaded my country and came to my door because i had "weapon caches" I can honestly say that i would not be happy about that. I was a part of victimizing and terrorizing the iraqi people, and i am sorry for that...
