My war followed me home long after the point of endured was achieved. Women returned with a 1 in 3 ratio of enduring sexual trauma at the hand of their own Nations brothers. I share my perceptions and it gets frustrating not being heard over the "dont like it leave" rhetoric. Take comfort in knowing what l felt many times within a 13 year career was. What are we doing here? When I spoke up I seen first hand that it's a club and you play by club rules or you'll get so jammed up you wont know which ways up or worse get accidentally fratricided. At no time did I ever engage with anyone that was a threat to my constitution as an American. There's no truth in the foreign and domestic portion of the oath. Both times the Patriot Act was signed in to law I never rushed home and defended my homeland. I was a coward I didn't stand up for the people when I felt the betrayal of the organization. I was clearly needing a steady paycheck and direction and for a time I didn't deploy then it was all I cared about. For the tax free exemption I couldn't wait to go camping on land that has a 500% increase in birth defects because of the radioactive material used to make armor piercing ordinances. Some flew home with visible scars but, I guarentee you the only ones of us without memories of these acts are RIP. Not to overstate the obvious, but, I'm now in a longer than humanly possible line for a medical system that has never had a shiney record when it comes to taking care and compensating the former U.S. service members.
I'm glad I pushed join. Looking forward to telling the truth about the reality of it all. Thank you for allowing me a place to share my reality. It speaks volumes.
