Christopher Arendt

I've been with IVAW since December 2007. Since that time I have testified about my experiences and my concerns with Guantanamo Bay, Cuba where I was deployed during the Winter Soldier Testimonials. After that I was swallowed in a media frenzy to get stories of torture which I didn't have to give.

After turning my uniform into paper with the CPP on Martha's Vineyard I decided that the normal life was not for me. I began hitchhiking and vagabonding to spread the good word.

In January of 2008 I participated in the Two Sides One Story tour all over the UK with Moazzam Begg, Jarallah Almarri, and Omar Deghuyes who were all detained in Guantanamo for a combined total of almost twenty years between them. It was a truly humbling experience. I came away from it with a much better understanding of why we are doing what it is we are doing.

Since then I have continued to travel with no regard for personal saftey, often touring with Combat Paper and Warrior Writers.

I am currently trying to bring SitRep out of retirement, write a novel, publish a series of Field Manuals for IVAW and honor my committment to the IVAW from the road.. If you are a writer, please contact me.
