In a response to our informational picket planned for tomorrow, Safe Staffing for Veterans' Right to Heal, the VA has requested a meeting with National Nurses United (NNU) and IVAW to address the following issues:

  1. Safe staffing and vacancy concerns at the Jesse Brown VA will be addressed and NNU concerns will be investigated with action taken as needed
  2. Training for all VA staff on how to address patients with PTSD, MST, and TBI
  3. Address issues at the Jesse Brown women's clinic
  4. Value all veteran voices
  5. Regular meetings with VA to ensure these issues are addressed

This meeting will be scheduled for April 20th and will be with the Director of the Jesse Brown VA, Director of all Regional VAs, members of the National Office of the Deputy under Secretary for Health for Operations and Management, Iraq Veterans Against the War, and National Nurses United. In an act of good faith we will be canceling our informational picket scheduled for tomorrow.

If the VA directors do not act in good faith during our planned meeting or in addressing our concerns we will be moving forward with an even larger informational picket.

WE ARE WINNING! Help keep the pressure on!

Iraq Veterans Against the War’s Operation Recovery Campaign for veterans and service members right to heal and the National Nurses United’s fight for safe staffing levels are coming together to demand SAFE STAFFING FOR VETERANS' RIGHT TO HEAL!

Veterans rely on the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center to address their specific physical and mental healthcare needs and to tackle the ongoing suicide epidemic. But with unsafe staffing levels and the lack of medical and mental health resources, Registered Nurses on the frontlines are struggling to provide the highest quality of care to America's veterans.

Join veterans and registered nurses as they march to protest unsafe staffing levels and the lack of medical and mental health resources to end the veteran suicide epidemic.
