We are winning.

We are winning. It is hard to see at times, but yes, we are winning. Our spade-work has sprouted a new energy in our movement. This year we won concessions from the military next year we will make history together.

Your commitment and work this year has paved the way for a number of achievements:

  • We formed the Afghanistan Veterans Against the War committee of IVAW to give voice to the unique experiences of our Afghan vets.
  • We won freedom for jailed war resisters, Marc Hall and Travis Bishop.
  • We won reforms to the 656th Transportation Units training schedule and forced the command to be relieved
  • We held our first women retreat, creating a safe space for women veterans to share experience of gender discrimination and Military Sexual violence.
  • We supported IVAW members Josh Steiber and Ethan McCord to come forward and speak the truth about their unit's involvement in the Wikileaks "Collateral Murder" video.
  • We have worked with our allies to form the Bradley Manning Support Network to free whistle-blower Bradley Manning.
  • We strengthened international solidarity with Iraqi labor unions and the Japanese peace movement.
  • We've put military commanders on notice that they will be exposed and held accountable for deploying troops with untreated trauma with the launch of our Operation Recovery campaign.
  • We continue to train the next generation of veterans working for peace who now have the skills to make powerful change happen for veterans and GIs in their communities.

What are the moments and work that IVAW has done that has left you inspired this year?
