CHAPLAINS SAFTEY BRIEF

   Howdy Everyone,

This is a hard fight we face. The evils of these wars and the monster of the military industrial complex are the equivilant to super villians. Take note that Lex Luther is an Arms Dealer and for a time was the President of the United States. And as these wars go on to be the longest running wars in our countries history the stress can mount. Burnout and depression are likely, exscpecially when we face our own demons from the war. Lord knows that I have faced burnout and depression, still do from time to time. With that I have always looked for balance and peace, if not for just a time.

There was a time I wanted to do everything and keep myself very busy in the movement locally. Burnout hit hard so I took a summer off. Damn near everyday I was taking my meds and went to Barton Springs. Those who attended the last Convention know the very swimming hole I went to and still do, weather permitting. I fasted from the world and it allowed my to take in the beauty of life. I came back from that summer completely refreshed. I don't take complete summers off anymore but I find those moments to fast from the world.

I have also streamlined my work. Counter Recuitment with Sustainable Options for Youth, Reparation work with IVAW, and on my last year on the VFP Board as Secratary. I go with what feels great with me. I always gain ground when talking to students and that is a huge moral boost. Reparation work is the lasting work of IVAW and words can't explain the feelings I get when I have helped those I terrorized in my days in the Army. Board work, well, its my last year. Point is Do nothing against your love. Which isn't hard to do. I have never experience so much love before I entered the Tribe of IVAW.

This work is too important for us and the people. We cannot drop out of the fight. it is imperative that we take care of ourselves. I smoke and drink too much to really be an authority. I need to follow my own advice as well. But it was a great day when I realized the the push-up came before the US Army thus the Army could not own the push-up for the push-up can exsist without the Army. I do more push-ups now than when I was in. Feels great. Riding my bike without a helmet gave me more scars for my face. I ride with a helmet now. Saftey Brief Ya'll. With Love.

the little things

It all starts with the little things.   Pick a day of the week to wear your IVAW shirt. If everyone did this then there would not be a day that there would be a IVAW walking around our area. If you don't have one...

Going Back

I always thought I would have grey hair when I went back to Iraq. I thought wrong. Sometime soon I will return to deliver medical equipment and supplies. For me this is just a drop to what I owe the people of Iraq. I...
