Ward Reilly
I was a member of the active-duty GI Resistance to the Viet Nam War, 1971-1974, in the First Infantry Division and in the Weapons Platoon of "C-1/16", stationed at Panzer Kaserne, Stuttgart, Germany for 30 months...I received 2 Special Courts Martial, in 1972, for desertion with 3 others in my platoon, (sentenced to Hard Labor), and was found not guilty of all charges in the second SCM in 1973)...I was Honorably Discharged in 1974. I joined Vietnam Veterans Against the War as an active duty Infantryman in 1972(still an active member), and Veterans For Peace in 1998(still an active member). Also a member of the anti war groups; "CAWI" of Baton Rouge, and "C3" of New Orleans.
I was a principle organizer in scores of local, regional, and national anti war actions since 2001. (including 15 before "Shock & Awe") I was an organizing member of "Camp Casey", 2005, "The Peace Train"(New Orleans to DC, Sept.23-25, 2005),"The Veterans Survivors March" 2006, "School Of the Americas Watch", "The Jazz Funeral For Democracy" 2005, & "Winter Soldier-Iraq & Afghanistan", 2008, among many others, and am on the organizing committee of October/2011.
I've served on the Advisory Board, (now Committee) of "Iraq Veterans Against the War" since it's inception in 2006, and as an Advisory Board Member of "Warrior Writers". Life Member, "Disabled American Veterans" (30% service-connected disabled for physical injuries, non-combat-related)
Native of Chicago, living in Baton Rouge, La...married for 36 years to Melissa.. retired as government Construction Inspector for the City of Baton Rouge in 2000, after 25 years of service. I have worked as a full time organizer and activist for 11 years.
