After having served a one year tour of duty in Iraq, 2003-2004, I have returned home fully convinced of the immorality of this war. I strongly believe it is my moral obligation to actively oppose this war, as well as help educate the American public on the futility of current U.S. foreign policy toward the Middle East.

I joined the National Guard when I was 17, in January of 2004. I knew I would need the money for college and I felt a much needed sense of discipline and direction for my life. It wasn't until the Dean of Admissions at my older brothers college asked me, "As a Soldier, What do you think about the war in Iraq?", and I had no reply, that I knew I needed to find an answer. I sought the truth; this is where the truth led me.

Dan joined the Marines straight out of high school in the summer of 2000, a time when few armed conflicts were underway that would necessitate a serviceman leaving the states. Before being discharged 5 years later, though, he deployed to Kuwait for 8 months in 2003 and to Iraq for 7 months in 2004. Dan currently attends Marist College in upstate New York where he studies Psychology/Special Education.

Former active duty Army Intel Analyst who joined an Army Reserve PSYOPS unit shortly after 9/11, after a five year break in service, just in case his country needed to call on seasoned ex-warriors for the war with Afghanistan -a war he thought was justified. Having served in Iraq in 2003, where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, he has since given up any beliefs he held about the Global War on Terrorism being waged honorably by the current Administration. You don't defeat terrorism by becoming a terrorist.
