Moving to Canada in disgust after getting out, I just moved back to the states. I was a 7 ton driver with 1st Tank Bn during the initial 'liberation' and then subsequently a year later. Got to see first hand what boys can do when they finally get a green light to play with their toys. So we were the ones who pulled down the statue - and while I was not there myself, I can tell you there certainly were not the throngs of people there depicted by the media. Amazing what you can do with camera angles, eh?

In 1998, I auditioned for the Army Band and enlisted impulsively and without informed consent. Over time I came to the realization that my military contribution, however indirect, was harming mother earth and her children. Now a civilian, I study the science and art of home birth midwifery as a spiritual exercise, a healing ritual, and to achieve balance on both a personal and a global level.

I'm an active duty Army computer guy (25B) from Springfield, IL, currently waiting out my time till ETS. I've done two deployments (12mo and 14mo) to the Iraq theater of operations and I'm staring down the barrel of another deployment (to Afghanistan) and 15+ months of stop-loss.

Joined Marine Corps in 1999. Deployed to Kuwait, then Iraq in 2003. After witnessing unethical behavior by some high ranking members in our unit, I reported the actions. Soon after, I was transferred to duties that I was not trained for (and that no one wanted). Upon returning, I began having seizures, PTSD symptoms, and my unit put my on indefinite medical leave. I was denied medical care at my military base.

Deployed to Iraq in 2003, and returned later that year. My entire Enlistment was 8 years, but the last 4 were spent inactive. Not IRR, but separated without pay for asking for mental health care counseling.

I served in the Illinois National Guard from 2000 to 2006.
I was pulled out of the University of Illinois in January 2003 and deployed to Kuwait and Iraq in April 2003 to July 2004 as an 88M truck driver. My company the 1244th TC ran combat support missions throughout most of Kuwait and Iraq. On my return to the states I have dedicated my life to making art that will deconstruct the culture of dehumanization and hate that was so prevalent wile deployed.

A 17-year-old boy doesn't quite understand what he's getting himself into at such a young age, but I joined the PA Army National Guard, hoping that I could "find myself" and what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
I am currently seeking classification as a 1-0 Conscientious Objector.

My name is Jim. I'm an AD AF vet, a U of Mich grad, and an OCS enlistee (at least until I am medically discharged). I got out in 1997 to take care of my grandmother and finish my education. In May of 2006 I felt the urge to serve again. I enlisted in the Michigan Army National Guard under an Officer Candidate School option.
