www.DrawingForPeace.org - Poetic Terrorism

Just a different way of expressing a need for peace. Public Messages are empowering people to make a public plea for peace with a drawing: Poetic Terrorism: In order to challenge commonplace political rhetoric public drawings are used as a political tactic and continually present opportunities for more complex metaphors to link the liminal cultural histories of the United States and Iraq. Within these connections there are perceived opportunities to break through the everyday consumptive spectacle and create a moment and space for reflection, thought, understanding, and peace. These drawings highlight the common use of geometric patterns that originated in Babylon and are commonly remembered as the beauty buried in the midst of the destruction of the war in Iraq. These moments transcended the political, cultural, racial, religious, and economic walls dividing the United States and Iraq. There is hope that this process will present a suggestion of the relationship between walking on a geometric history rooted in Babylon and the daily destruction of the people and lands of Babylon. |
