Anyone with a GI Bill Story to Tell?

Hey guys - This reporter up in Burlington, VT is trying to expose how universities are not not waiving fees while vets wait for their GI Bill money. Obviously this issue is ridiculous - this money is guaranteed to us. There is no reason to cause undue stress by requiring money upfront while we have to wait on the VA. She's good to go - if you've got an experiences, hook her up.

Here is what she asked me to post:

Reporter wants to hear experience with GI bill educational benefits

I am a reporter looking for recent veterans to talk to me about their
experiences collecting benefits under the Montgomery GI bill. Here
are a few thing I would like to know:

How long did it take between the time you applied for college
benefits and the time the first check came through?

Were there times when the VA check for educational benefits did not
arrive by the time you were supposed to start classes?

If so, what did the university do:
--Say: OK, start classes anyway and will cover you until the VA money
comes, or
--Say: you have to pay before starting classes and if you can't pay
yourself until the benefits come you will have to wait until next
semester.

Did you NOT sign up for the $1,200 [$100 a month] kicker during
processing and now wish you were able to get benefits?

Please email or give me a call--or give me a number so I can call
you. And if you don't want your name used in print, that's OK.

Thanks,
Terry Allen
