Unit: 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault)
Rank: PFC
Home: West Philly, Pennsylvania
Served in: Kandahar, Afghanistan
Iraq - Camp Shell; AO Paradise; abandoned Iraqi Army airfield; Baghdad; Tal Afar. I grew up in Brooklyn and joined the Army in January of 2001, at the age of 18. Upon successful completion of my initial entry training, I was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). I served in Kandahar, Afghanistan from January to July of 2002; and participated in the Invasion of Iraq in March of 2003, spending the majority of my time there in Tal Afar. I received an honorable discharge in January of 2005, upon termination of my four-year contract. I was diagnosed with PTSD by a VA psychologist in September of 2005, and was evicted from my Boston-area apartment in June of 2006. At present, I live in Philadelphia, the city where my nation was born. I edit and publish a near-monthly newsletter written by and for veterans of the Global War on Terror. I am of the opinion that the oath I took upon enlistment did not expire when my contract did, and still consider it my sacred duty "to support and defend the constitution of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and to bear true faith and allegiance to the above".
