Michael Blake
Branch of service: United States Army (USA)
Home: Binghamton, New York
Served in: Fort Carson, Colorado; Balad, Iraq
After my tour I filed for and recieved Conscientious Objector Status, and an honorable discharge. I joined IVAW in March 2005, attended several national events (Veterans and Survivors March, Silent March in D.C., April Protest in New York City, etc.); and was elected to the IVAW Board of Directors during the Veterans for Peace Conference that took place in Seattle in August 2006. After serving my time on the board I resumed leadership of the Central New York chapter of IVAW. I feel that Iraq Veterans Against the War is not just an Anti-War group, it's also a close knit family of veterans who care deeply for one another and for the cause we are engaged in. You can see a video of me testifying before a Congressional Commission on Disability Benifits at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRCaf9i4xFE.
