CPT Luis Carlos Montalván is a 17-year veteran of the U.S. Army. He served two tours in Iraq leading cavalry elements, advisory teams and served in staff positions at the operational and strategic levels. He was awarded 2 Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart and other medals for valor and meritorious achievement. His writings have been published in The NY Times and The Washington Post among other media outlets. Presently, he is a student at Columbia University working on M.S. degrees in Journalism and STRATCOM.
