i joined in 1996, i served till 2003, my unit got its orders to go to iraq with 1st ID three months after i got out. for some time i felt regret for not going with them. i still had some of that brainwashed notion that going to war would be a noble act. i still wanted to beleive that maybe the administration knew more then what they were telling the public about the situation in iraq, and going there could be the right thing.... now i know, they knew one thing, colonization and re-education at the point of a gun; all other reasonings are theater.
