I served in Afghanistan in 2004. I left my two young children in order to defend America and help the people in the middle east. It soon became clear that all I was doing was lining the pockets of the civilian companies who are making billions off our efforts. In the years since I've been home, I have watched my daughters suffer from anxiety and attachment disorders that I firmly believe stemmed from my service. The children of our veterans gave as much, if not more, than the soldiers themselves, without having the luxury of choice.
There are no resource to help the children of war veterans. There are no celebrations, no parades honoring their sacrifices. This is wrong.
