IVAW Code of Conduct

Iraq Veterans Against the War is a veteran based organization dedicated to bringing the troops home now, advocating for full benefits and health care for all veterans, and reparations for the Iraqi people. Participation in the organization’s programs is subject to adherence to the policies of the organization. This Code of Conduct policy provides guidelines for behavior of IVAW’s members, staff, and volunteers and is designed to protect the organization and help further its mission.

Any of the following acts outlined below are strictly prohibited. Any members, staff, or volunteers who violate this code are subject to discipline up to and including removal from the organization. Prohibited behaviors include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Disrespect, slander, malicious or divisive behavior towards a fellow member, employee or volunteer;
  2. Verbal, physical, or sexual harassment;
  3. Conduct endangering the life, safety, and/or health of others;
  4. Mismanagement or misappropriation of IVAW funds;
  5. Theft of IVAW property or equipment;
  6. Refusal to follow official policies set forth in the by-laws or by the Board of Directors;
  7. Use of illegal drugs, alcohol abuse or other illegal activity while representing IVAW
  8. Any act that constitutes discrimination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or religion; and
  9. Misrepresentation of military service, to include fraudulent claims of military decorations and awards.

All questions, complaints and comments should be directed to the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors.
