Say NO! to further sanctions on Iran meant to derail U.S./Iran diplomatic efforts!
I sent this letter to my two senators; Senator Cruz and Senator Cornyn concerning the bill to impose even more sanctions on Iran, over the sanctions already in place for the past 30 years, pushing the Islamic government to either commit suicide or retaliate. I'm providing a typed sample of the letter, the original is hand written and delivered via snail mail for maximum effect. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Senator Hi, my name is Jovanni Reyes, I am a veteran, and I'm a constituent of yours. How are you? Hope you are doing well. I'm writing because I'm wondering if you enjoy causing pain to others; deprive people of food and medicine so much that those 30 years of already harsh sanctions on the people of Iran is not quit enough for you. Moreover, it seems to me that you enjoy war so much that you’ll go at great length to ensure that the condition for it is always there. It seems to me, that you enjoy collective punishment so much that you are willing to support Sen. Menendez’s bill to impose even harsher sanctions, at a time when U.S./Iran level of tension is decreasing. I'm disappointed that you've supported increasing sanctions on Iran at this time. I believe this move undermines diplomatic negotiations and could lead to another conflict in the Middle East. As a former soldier, I see this as a deliberate attempt to derail negotiation which is an irresponsible act on your part. War is destructive to everyone who participate in it, and expensive, which leaves me baffled whenever I hear you pounding on your desk preaching out loud to all that “we need to cut spending!”, “spending is out of control!”. I urge you to reconsider your support for the Menendez legislation and support President Obama's diplomacy with Iran. Respectfully, Jovanni Reyes IVAW Volunteer Member
