Evolver Spores: Wars and Peace
Wed, January 19--
As we reflect on the past decade, it is impossible to ignore a common theme: war. Recent figures place the total casualties of the United States’ military engagements in Iraq and Afghanistan at nearly one million people, with a toll of human suffering (including thousands of neglected US veterans) that is difficult to measure. Vast resources are spent to keep the war machine humming, with government, corporate, and media interests alike inextricably tied to a military-industrial complex that makes its fortunes on death and destruction.
How do we change the planetary consciousness so that it becomes peaceful and harmonic? What is the practical strategy for doing this in a short amount of time, before nuclear war is triggered by accident or terrorist jihad?
This month the Evolver Social Movement invites you to extend an olive branch and join 40+ Evolver Spores as we mobilize our hearts and minds to conquer the archaic culture of war with universal love. Local Spores may choose to explore conflict resolution and NonViolent Communication techniques, the peaceful strategies of Gandhi and Martin Luther King, actions by peace groups like Code Pink, Food Not Bombs, and United for Peace and Justice, or host the “Warrior Writers,” artists, and speakers from Iraq Veterans Against the War.
